Description
Montessori Method
The Pink Tower is one of the flagship activities of the Montessori method. Please note that it is not suitable for children under 18 months and should be used under adult supervision.
The Montessori method was created by Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, in 1907. Today, it is used in over 22,000 institutions worldwide. The particularity of the Montessori method is to emphasize the child's personal development and encourage their autonomy through educational games based on senses and perception.
Montessori Mathematics
The goal is to stack the cubes from largest to smallest to create a tower, but it is also possible to make other constructions to stimulate your child's imagination.
These 10 pink stacking cubes will develop the perception of dimensions as well as the notions of size and scale by teaching the child to stack the cubes from largest to smallest to create a tower.
If the child makes a mistake when building the tower, they can correct themselves by visually seeing their error and also by feeling the weight of the cubes, as they are solid, meaning the heavier the cube, the larger it is. This activity will help them develop their concentration and autonomy.
This Montessori toy allows for visual discrimination of the 3 dimensions thanks to the cube edges, as well as the discovery of mathematical concepts through numbers from 1 to 10, decimals, geometry, and volumes.

Montessori Pink Tower: The Cards
The set includes 10 cards measuring 0.7 cm to 7 cm on each side, where the pink square is the same size as the base of the corresponding cube.

Motor Skills
These cubes will develop your child's motor skills as they will need to connect the movement and flexibility of their fingers with the coordination of their eyes, which will develop their sense of touch, observation and analysis skills, and dexterity.

Language of Size
Having 10 cubes whose only difference is their size will allow the child to learn the adjectives "big" and "small" as well as the superlatives "smaller" or "bigger."
When presenting the pink tower to the child, always verbalize the objective. For example: "I'm going to show you how to build the tower." You can proceed as follows:
1) Setup and preparation: Sit on a mat and ask the child to get the pink tower themselves. This allows them to develop mastery of movement and inhibit distractions along the way (development of inhibitory control); in case of an obstacle, it helps develop flexibility.
2) Naming the material: The adult names the "cube" so that the child understands what it is.
3) Presenting the object: Give an individual, precise, logical, and clear presentation of each cube.
4) Building the tower: Initially, the adult should slowly demonstrate the arrangement of the cubes from largest to smallest (centered cubes) and then dismantle them on the mat if a grading error is not perceived.
5) Controlling errors: The adult must emphasize error control, meaning there is just enough space to place the small 0.7 cm cube between each cube. Then the child checks it themselves. If they made a mistake while building their tower, the adult then encourages self-correction without negative comments about their work.
6) Learning adjectives of size: The child will learn the adjectives "small" and "big" by comparing cubes of different sizes.
7) Learning superlatives and comparatives: By analyzing the different sizes between each cube, the child will be able to introduce "bigger," "smaller," "just bigger," or "just smaller" into their vocabulary.
8) Group game variation: One child points to the cube they want using a card, and the other child gives them the cube corresponding to the associated card.

Cube Tower
This game can consist of a series of 10 solid cubes of different sizes. The gradation of the cubes is achieved by increasing the edge of the cubes by 0.7 cm: the smallest cube measures 0.7 cm on each side and the largest measures 7 cm on each side.

The pink tower should be presented on its pedestal (ref 002410).
